BodyScan Privacy Notice

At a glance

  • We measure your body-composition and metabolic health using a BodyScan, and give you a personal results handout.
  • The only thing that identifies your results is the mobile number you give us — we do not record your name against them.
  • We use your information for one purpose only: to give you your results and let you compare them if you scan with us again.
  • We never share your data with anyone else, and no third party can access it.
  • We keep it for up to 6 years so a future comparison is possible — and we will delete it whenever requested.

1. Who we are

This notice explains how Gloo Fitness (“we”, “us”, “our”) – Gloo Fitness Ltd (ICO ZB167040) – looks after the personal information we collect when you have a BodyScan with us.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, Gloo Fitness is the data controller for this information.

How to contact us about your data:

2. The information we collect

When you have a BodyScan, we collect:

  • Your health metrics — the body-composition and metabolic measurements produced by the scan (for example body-fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, visceral fat, hydration and related metabolic indicators).
  • Your mobile number — used solely as the reference that links the results to you so we can find them again if you return.

We do not record your name alongside your results. Your mobile number is the only identifier we hold.

3. This is health data, and we treat it with extra care

Your scan results are information about your physical health. Under UK data protection law this is a special category of personal data, which has additional protections. We handle it accordingly, and only on the basis set out below.

4. Why we use your information, and our lawful basis

We use your information for a single purpose: to provide you with your personal results, help you understand them, and — if you choose to scan with us again — to compare your results over time.

We do not use your information for marketing, research, profiling, or any other purpose, and we do not sell it.

Our lawful basis for using your health data is your explicit consent, which we ask for at the time of your scan. You can withdraw your consent at any time; withdrawing it will not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

5. Who we share it with

No one. Your results are for you. We do not share, disclose or give access to your data to any other person or organisation. The only party who receives your results is you — in the form of your printed handout.

6. How we keep it safe

Your scan data is held on a password-protected system that cannot be accessed by other parties. Access is restricted to Gloo Fitness for the sole purpose described in this notice.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your results for up to 6 years. We do this so that, if you choose to scan with us again in the future, we can show you how your metrics have changed over time.

You can ask us to delete your data at any point, and we will do so.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access the information we hold about you;
  • Rectify it if it is inaccurate;
  • Erase it (“right to be forgotten”) — ask us to delete it at any time;
  • Restrict or object to how we use it;
  • Data portability — receive your data in a usable format;
  • Withdraw your consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. We will respond within the time limits set by law (normally one month). There is usually no charge.

9. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator:

10. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed.
